What We Do At The Peter Maurin Center

Join the Peter Maurin Center: Serving With Heart, Growing Together

‍At The Peter Maurin Center, we believe a meal is more than food—it’s community, compassion, and connection. For over 15 years, we’ve welcomed neighbors with warmth, served more than 120,000 meals, and opened our doors as a place of hope for those who need it most.

We now serve meals every Tuesday, (Thursday North Hill), Friday, and Sunday, thanks entirely to the generosity of individuals, organizations, and churches. We take no government funding, relying solely on our community’s support.

Each Sunday, local churches prepare 1,350–1,500 meals monthly

Including support from the following churches:

  • St. Paul/Akron
  • St. Sebastian
  • St. Hilary’s
  • St. Mary’s/Hudson
  • Holy Family/Stow
  • Sacred Heart of Wadsworth
  • Our Lady of Guadalupe/Macedonia
  • Immaculate Heart of Mary/Cuyahoga Falls
  • Vincent de Paul/Regional
  • REACH Project
  • Ancient Order of Hibernians
  • …and others

During the harshest winter nights (25°F or below), our facility also opens as an emergency center, providing warmth and safety to 20–40 individuals on about 25 nights each year.

Lend a Hand, Share the Hope

Our 60–80 weekly volunteers are the heartbeat of our mission. From preparing meals to handing out essentials—or simply offering a friendly face—every act of service helps transform lives.

When you volunteer, you become part of the Peter Maurin family, helping us provide hope, strength, and vital resources to our most vulnerable community members.

To volunteer, contact Mike Rauh at mikerauh58@gmail.com or (330) 258-9006.

Together, we can continue serving with heart and growing stronger as a community.
